Why Modern Pools
Founded in 1999, Modern Pools has designed and built custom pools across Austin, Texas and the surrounding Hill Country for more than a quarter century.
Our work has earned international recognition, including a spot in The World's Greatest Pools from Pebble Technology International.
We build on the steep, limestone, and caliche Hill Country sites that other contractors turn down, with engineering planned in from the start.
You get a fixed price contract before construction begins and a structural warranty on the gunite shell we build.

Around Mexico
Mexico is one of the best places in the world to build a pool. Resort areas like Los Cabos, Punta Mita, and the Riviera Maya draw people who want a home by the sea. Some sit on warm tropical coast. Others sit on dry desert coast near the water. We design pools for both from our Austin studio, then hand your local builder the plans to build from.
The coast is beautiful, but it is hard on a pool. Strong sun, heat, and salt air all wear on finishes and hardware over time. We plan for this from the start. We pick the right materials and details so your pool looks good for years, not just on opening day.
Many villa lots in Mexico face the ocean. That view is the whole reason people build there. An infinity pool makes the water look like it flows straight into the sea. It is one of the most asked-for designs on the coast, and we plan the edge, the catch basin, and the sight lines with care.
If your lot has a softer, natural feel, a freeform pool can follow the shape of the land and the plants around it. For smaller villa lots or rooftop spaces, a plunge pool gives you a cool spot to soak without taking over the whole yard.
Life on the Mexican coast happens outside. Homes here blend the indoors and the outdoors, with wide openings and covered patios. We design outdoor living around your pool, with decks, an outdoor kitchen, and shade structures that give you cool space in the strong midday sun.
Shade is not just nice to have on the coast. It keeps the deck cool underfoot and gives your family a break from the heat. We plan it into the design so it fits the home and the view.
The sound of moving water fits a warm coastal home well. We can design water features into your plan, from quiet spillways to grottos and fire and water. Each one is drawn into the plans so your local builder knows exactly what to make.
We are a design studio, not a local crew in Mexico. We design your pool in full 3D and give you plans, drawings, and specs. A builder in your area does the real work on your site. For big destination projects, our team can travel to help plan the job and guide the build. Call (512) 608-6602 or request a consultation today.
