What a Custom Pool Really Costs
The honest answer: it depends on your lot and your wish list. But you deserve real numbers, not a runaround.
Most custom gunite pools in the Austin area start in the low six figures and climb from there. A simple pool on a flat lot sits near the bottom. A large pool with an infinity edge on a steep, rocky site sits near the top.
This guide explains what moves the number so you can plan with eyes open.
What Drives the Price
Your lot. This is the big one. A flat, easy access yard in Sunset Valley costs far less to build on than a steep, rocky slope in West Lake Hills. Cutting through limestone or caliche, hauling spoil, and building retaining walls all add real cost.
Size and shape. Bigger pools and complex geometric or freeform shapes use more material and labor.
Finishes. Plaster is the base. Quartz and pebble interiors, premium tile, and natural stone coping raise both the look and the price.
Water features. Infinity edges, spillways, sheer descents, and spas each add to the total. See water features.
Decking and outdoor living. Travertine decking, an outdoor kitchen, fire features, and pergolas can equal a large share of the budget.
Equipment and automation. Variable speed pumps, heaters, LED lighting, and smart controls vary widely in cost.
Our Four Pricing Tiers
To make planning simple, we sort projects into four clear tiers:
- Elemental. A clean, well built pool with quality core finishes. The efficient starting point.
- Essential. Adds upgraded finishes, a tanning ledge or spa, and better equipment.
- Extensive. Larger pools with water features, premium decking, and outdoor living elements.
- Elite. Fully custom showpieces: infinity edges, complex shapes, full outdoor living, top tier finishes throughout.
Each tier comes with a fixed price contract, so once we scope your project, your price does not move.
Why Our Pricing Is Different
Fixed, not floating. Many builders quote low, then pile on change orders once your old pool is a hole in the ground. We lock the price before we dig.
Tough lot pricing done right. With 25 years on Hill Country sites, we price slope, rock, and access accurately the first time, so there are no nasty surprises.
Clear scope. You see exactly what is included, in 3D, before you sign.
